Twitter Tips

These tips is published in www.bitrebels.com , I quote them digested somehow.

5 STRATEGIES TO HELP YOU TWEET BETTER:
1. Strategy #1 – Listen to your stream - Before you start sharing your links or retweeting, a good way to start your tweet day is by checking your @replies to see who has been saying hello or asking you questions
2. Strategy #2 – Be considerate to all your followers – It is not easy, but it is also important to take your followers into consideration when you choose the links you share.
3. Strategy #3 – Read the links before you retweet – I found it strange once when a follower asked me if Twitter will change how people view blogs and articles. The first thing that came to mind was that the person must just be retweeting and not even bothering to read the links he or she shares with others
4. Strategy #4 – 50/50 rule – In simple terms, balance your tweets. Share info and engage in conversations.
5. Strategy #5 – Reciprocate but be true to yourself – I reciprocate but I always make sure that I do not deviate from who I am and what I believe in.

5 COOL WAYS TO USE DM ON TWITTER
1. Engage Your Followers – If you feel intimidated with someone on stream, but would like to say hello and know more about your follower/following, then sending a personal direct message will open up a way for you to send your message across.
2. Hold Meetings- You wouldn’t believe it but more often than not, the Bit Rebels team hold meetings via DM. This happens when we need to get quick decisions on urgent matters. Its fast, easy and real time.
3. Hold Long Private Conversations- When you have been on Twitter for the longest time, you would one day be able to form a bond with your Twitter friends. Just like me and @adamsconsulting @Minervity @cheth and a lot lot more, they are people who I interact with everyday. As friends you want to talk longer, of course you don’t want to clog your stream with long conversations, as most people might not really be able to relate. The unwritten rule is hold at least only 2 to 4 tweets of conversation with one person on the stream and do the rest on DM.
4. Interviews – You can invite your Twitter friends to answer questions for a post via DM, I have had a lot of interviews made on DM, again its easy, fast response and real time. No need to worry because if you miss an answer, you can check it later via email.
5. Alert for New Posts - I encourage people that I follow and my followers to send me links or alert me when they have new posts on their blogs. Let us face it, we can’t really be keeping an eye on every Tweet that come out from each and everyone of our followers. Getting alert on DM allows me to read the blog and then share it on
stream if I find them very interesting.
